Youth sports games will be held in Vladivostok

Vladivostok is hosting the International Sports Games "Children of Asia" for the first time.

The opening ceremony of the VII International Sports Games "Children of Asia" will take place on Thursday at the Fetisov Arena Concert and sports complex in Vladivostok. Primorsky Krai for the first time became a venue for competitions, which will be attended by more than 1.3 thousand athletes aged 13 to 16 years.

The participants of the competition will be representatives of 13 countries: Armenia, Afghanistan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Lebanon. Russia will be represented by athletes from Moscow, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the subjects of the Far Eastern, Siberian, Ural Federal districts.

Participants of the VII International Sports Games "Children of Asia" will compete for 273 sets of medals in 19 sports: badminton, 3x3 basketball, kurash wrestling, hapsagai wrestling, boxing, beach volleyball, judo, athletics, mas-wrestling, table tennis, bullet shooting, sambo, wrestling (freestyle wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling), archery, dance sports (discipline "breaking"), taekwondo, mini-football, rhythmic gymnastics. The opening will take place after the final stage of the torch relay in Vladivostok. The relay will end with the lighting of the bowl at the Fetisov Arena during the opening ceremony of the games.

The opening ceremony will be attended by the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin. Together with Igor Levitin, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Oleg Kozhemyako, Governor of Primorsky Krai, and Stanislav Pozdnyakov, President of the Russian Olympic Committee, he will run as a torchbearer at the final stage of the torch relay. On the opening day, Matytsin will visit the athletes' village and communicate with the participants of the competition. As part of the ceremony, the Minister will also award the winners of the swimming competitions.

The torch relay started on June 24 in the Lena Pillars National Park in Yakutia. According to tradition, the Yakut shaman lit the fire. Then he was taken to Primorye, since June 30, the relay race has been held in seaside towns and villages. Residents and guests of Vladivostok will be able to greet the participants of the relay on July 28. It is planned that 40 torchbearers will take part in it — these are people who have contributed to the development of Vladivostok, famous athletes and public figures.

The VII International Sports Games "Children of Asia" will be held in the capital of Primorye from July 28 to August 8 on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Games are held with the support of the President and Government of the Russian Federation, the Russian Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, as well as the Olympic Council of Asia. The competitions are organized under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee and UNESCO.
