Alpine skier from Uzbekistan Komiljon Tukhtaev, as part of his performances at the qualifying competitions, fulfilled the established standards in the disciplines "slalom" and "giant slalom" for the selection for the 2022 Winter Olympics, which will be held in Beijing from February 8 to 20. This was reported in the press service of the Uzbekistan Ski Federation on November 1.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Uzbekistan financed a program to prepare four athletes for the Winter Olympics 2022 (2 main and 2 substitutes). The program included qualifying competitions, as well as training camps held in Italy, Austria and Russia.

According to the rules of the International Olympic Committee, at the moment the country can only claim 2 quotas in the ski sports (1 woman, 1 man).

"Uzbekistan has the potential to obtain several more licenses for other skiing types - snowboarding, freestyle, ski cross, cross-country skiing. The Federation's proposals for the development of skiing have previously been prepared and submitted to the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports," the report says.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics, Uzbekistan was represented by skier Komiljon Tukhtaev and figure skater Misha Ge.
