Two Russian tennis players played in the final of the tournament in Istanbul

Anastasia Potapova defeated Veronika Kudermetova in the final of the tennis tournament in Istanbul.

Russian Anastasia Potapovaon Sunday defeated compatriot Veronika Kudermetovain the final match of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournament in Istanbul.

The meeting ended with a score of 6:3, 6:1 in favor of Anastasia Potapova, who didn not receive a seeding number at tournament . Veronika Kudermetova was seeded third. The last time two Russians played in the final of the WTA tournament in 2021 in St. Petersburg, whenDaria Kasatkina defeated Margarita Gasparyan with a score of 6:3, 2 :1 (Gasparian withdrew from the match).

Anastasia Potapova21 years old, she occupies 122nd place in WTA rating. For the first time, a Russian woman won a tournament under the auspices of the association in singles. At the Grand Slam tournaments, the athlete did not go beyond the third round.

Veronika Kudermetova occupies 29th place in the world rankings, the 24-year-old athlete has one WTA title in  single rank. At the Grand Slam tournaments, she did not reach further than the third round.

The tournament in Istanbul belongs to the WTA 250 category and takes place on clay. The prize fund of the competition is $251,000. Earlier, in the finals of the tournament in doubles at the competitions in Istanbul, Russians Natela Dzalamidze and Kamilla Rakhimova lost to Czech Maria Bouzkova and Spaniard Sarah Sorribes-Tormo with a score of 3:6, 4:6.
