Turkmenistan introduces restrictions on the sale of alcohol

Starting from the new year, the law “On the Prevention of the Harmful Effects of Alcohol” will come into force in the country.

From January 1, 2019, alcohol can be sold only in the wine and vodka departments of stores and specialized outlets, as well as in restaurants, bars and cafes, and only if there is a cash register and a payment terminal.

At the same time, the sale of alcohol in shops will be allowed only on weekdays from 10:00 to 20:00, and on non-working holidays and memorable dates, the sale of alcoholic products will be prohibited. It will also be prohibited to sell it via the Internet. in sanatoriums, medical, military, sports and cultural institutions, as well as in trains, on sea and river vessels and in airplanes.

It will be possible to import alcohol into the country only for personal use and no more than one liter.
