Tokyo awaits foreign leaders at the 2021 Olympics

The head of the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee is looking forward to the arrival of world leaders to the Olympics.

Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee Chairman Yoshiro Mori hopes that world leaders will be able to come to Japan Summer Olympics this year.

“I wish   the wish    wish    wish  the new coronavirus in the United States in Europe could be more games [in Tokyo], and also for the leaders of each country to come," Mori said in an interview published on Sunday in the Yomiuri newspaper. "Perhaps [U.S. President-elect Joseph] Biden will come and we have already invited [U.S.President Donald] Trump, they could meet [the former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo] Abe."

“While the various countries are in strife and opposition, let us [instead] cooperate as a whole. We could make real efforts and together sincerely discuss how to overcome the severe scourge of the coronavirus,  - said the head of the organizing committee.

The Tokyo Olympics were to be held from 24 July to 9 August 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the competition has been postponed by a year and will take place between 23 July and 8 August 2021. At the same time, the name of the Tokyo 2020 Games has been retained.
