The Tokyo Paralympic Games will start on August 24.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bachis set to attend the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo on 24 August. This was reported by the agency Kyodo on Wednesday, citing sources among the organizers of the competition.

As expected, the head of the IOC may arrive in the Japanese capital on 23 August. At the same time, it is not reported whether he will need to go through any quarantine procedures in connection with the situation with the coronavirus.

During the preparation and holding of the Olympics, the President of the IOC was in Tokyo for about a month starting on July 8. He spent the first three days of his stay in the country in self-isolation in a hotel. He then attended only pre-approved locations and meetings for 14 days. This order was prescribed in the rules of the Games.

The Tokyo Olympics were held from July 23 to August 8, most of the competitions were held without spectators. The Tokyo Paralympic Games will be held from August 24 to September 5, also will not allow fans.
