We've been waiting for this for five years: the Summer Olympic Games have started in Tokyo.

The Opening Ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games was held on Friday at the National Stadium in Tokyo. "Light in the dark tunnel of the pandemic" - such words were said in his welcoming speech by the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach.

“Today is a moment of hope. Yes, the Games are very different from what we imagined, but we are happy to get together, the athletes from 205 National Olympic Committees and the refugee team all live together in Olympic Village   said Bach. — This is the unifying power of sport, a message of solidarity and hope for our friendly journey together. The Organizing Committee and Japanese authorities at all levels have done an incredible job, and I would like to express my gratitude to them.

Traditionally, Greek athletes opened the parade of Olympians, Russian athletes received the 77th serial number - between the teams of San Marino and & nbsp; Sierra Leone. The standard-bearers were Olympic champions Sofia Velikaya (fencing) and Maxim Mikhailov (volleyball). The parade was attended by ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov and head of the delegation Andrey Konokotin. In total, only 950 officials were admitted to the ceremony, the opening took place with almost empty stands.

At the same time, about 50 people gathered at the stadium —they organized a protest against the Olympics. The action took place approximately 400 meters from the arena outside the police cordon. However, protest cries were heard in the stadium itself during the opening ceremony.

The standard-bearer of the Russian delegation Velikaya noted that the actions against the Games did not touch the holiday during the opening ceremony. “The protests were neither heard nor seen. On the contrary, while we drifted to the stadium, we saw people who greeted us, waved to us, smiled, and it was joy and happiness. I think that if there weren there were no restrictions, all the streets would be full of them,  - said Velikaya.

“Japan is a different world, bewitching, interesting, unusual, and although I have been here many times, I would like to know about this country even more. The Japanese are wonderful people, and when we came here for gatherings, everyone we met was ready to help us, if suddenly, for example, we didn know the way. After all, the Olympic Games are held in different countries so that we get to know each other, learn about the culture and customs of different countries, added the interlocutor of the agency.

Qualification in archery made both fans and participants nervous - Russian Svetlana Gomboeva got heatstroke and lost consciousness during during the performance. The girl was assisted by medical work, later she reported that she felt better and did not intend to withdraw from the Olympics.

“Svetlana was returning from the shield after the end of the qualifying round, lost consciousness and fell. Doctors from other teams - Italy, Great Britain, USA were the first to approach Svetlana. She was given first aid, after which local doctors took her away,” said team coach Stanislav Popov, quoted by the telegram channel of the Russian Olympic Committee.

According to Popov, the athlete could not stand being in the & nbsp; heat all day. “This is the  first time in my memory. In Vladivostok, where we trained before this, the weather was similar. But  the stuffiness affected here, - said the coach.

On July 25, Gomboeva will perform as part of the Russian national team in the team tournament. The Russians in the 1/8 finals will meet with the representatives of Ukraine.
