The servicemen of the Russian Guard became part of the Russian Olympic team

Athletes from the Russian Guard will go to the Olympics in Beijing to represent Russia in seven sports.


They do their military service as instructors of sports teams at the administrations of the Central, Northwestern, Volga, Ural and Siberian districts of the troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation.

The cross-country skiing team includes seven servicemen of the National Guard troops. On the ski slopes of the Olympics, the honor of Russia will be defended by the National Guard captain Sergey Ustyugov, senior lieutenants Alexander Bolshunov, Denis Spitsov and Tatyana Sorina, lieutenant Artyom Maltsev, warrant officer Maria Istomina and junior sergeant Veronika Stepanova

Three servicemen of the National Guard Captain Semyon Elistratov , warrant officer Denis Hayrapetyanand warrant officer Ekaterina Efremenkova won the right to represent the country at the 2022 Winter Olympics as part of the short track team. 

Among athletes, who will represent Russia at the Olympic bobsleigh and skeleton competitions - ensign Nadezhda Sergeeva and private Rostislav Gaytyukevich

For winning the Olympic competitions as part of the national team Russian speed skater senior lieutenant Olga Fatkullina, freestyle ensign Ridzik Sergey and curling private Alina Kovaleva.

Athletes of the troops law enforcement have been participating in the Olympic Games since 1952. During this time, they brought 281 medals to the national team (106 gold, 73 silver and 102 bronze).

In the Winter Olympics, the servicemen of the internal troops made their debut in 1968 in the French city of Grenoble. Then, at international competitions as part of the USSR national team, they won 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals. From that moment on, the National Guard took part in all winter Olympic tournaments and won 22 gold, 17 silver and 15 bronze medals.

The 1980 Winter Olympic Games, which were held in the city of Lake Placid in the USA. As part of the USSR national team, they won 5 gold and 2 silver medals. Biathletes Alexander TikhonovandVladimir Barnashov, figure skaters Natalya Linichukand Gennady Karponosov, and skier Vasily Rochev won gold in the 4x10 km relay and silver in the 30 km cross-country skiing.
