At the session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) held on July 20, FIAS received permanent recognition IOC. This gives Sambo a chance to be included in the Olympic program. Due to the sanctions of the World Anti-Doping Agency, the Russian team competed at the tournament as a team of the All-Russian Sambo Federation.
