The organizers of the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo plan to set a limit on the number of spectators allowed in the stadiums at 5,000 people. This was reported by the Kyodo agency on Tuesday, citing official sources.

According to the agency, the organizers of the Olympic Games may agree on this decision on Thursday.

On July 2, Kyodo announced the intention of the organizers to hold a five-sided an online meeting to discuss issues related to the allowed number of spectators in stadiums during the competition against the background of the difficult situation with the spread of the new coronavirus in the capital region. It will be attended, in particular, by representatives of the Japanese government, the Tokyo administration, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the organizing committee of the Tokyo Olympics.

the occupancy of sports facilities during the competition should not exceed 50%. However, according to the agency, in light of the difficult situation with the coronavirus in the country, it will be difficult for the Japanese government and organizers to hold games with such a large number of fans.

The Tokyo Olympics will be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021. Foreign spectators will not be present at the competitions.
