Syrians will come to the World Games of Young Compatriots

The fifth competition will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk from May 31 to June 6.

The Syrian delegation will include one girl and four boys. In total, over 600 teenagers aged 12 to 14 from 60 countries will take part in the games.

For seven days they will compete in disciplines such as 3x3 basketball , mini-football, volleyball, chess, table tennis, rhythmic gymnastics and swimming.

The World Games annually bring together children of compatriots who live abroad. Serious emphasis is also placed on the cultural and educational program. The event is designed to preserve the Russian language, culture and history. Volunteers work with young guests. 

The opening ceremony of the competition will take place on June 1. The Games will be attended by Russian Minister of Sports Pavel Kolobkov, presidential envoy to the Ural Federal District Nikolai Tsukanov and outstanding athletes of the past. 

In particular, three-time Olympic champion in figure skating, ten-time world champion Irina Rodnina, classical style, three-time Olympic winner, nine-time world champion Alexander Karelin and many others.
