Summer Olympics in Tokyo postponed



The Games will take place in 2021, the IOC has confirmed.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach held a telephone conversation today.
Premier of the Country rising sun due to the coronavirus pandemic proposed to postpone the Olympics, which was scheduled for the period from 24 July to 9 August this year.
“Under the current conditions and based on information provided by WHO today, IOC President Thomas Bach and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe came to the conclusion that the Olympic Games to Tokyo should be moved.
Meanwhile, it has been decided that the Olympic flame will remain in Japan. It is also noted that the competition will retain the name Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, the IOC notes.
