More than 100 million rubles were allocated to the Sakhalin Region for the construction of four "smart" sports grounds in 2022. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, whose comment was provided to TASS on Monday.

Chernyshenko held a working meeting with the governor of the Sakhalin regionValery Limarenko, at which the development of sports and IT infrastructure on Sakhalin was discussed.

"This year Sakhalin has been allocated more than 100 million rubles for the construction of four "smart" sports grounds. Next year, a large modular hall will also be built, 60 million rubles are provided for this in the budget. By creating a sports infrastructure, the leadership of the region is going to fulfill the goal set by the president — to increase the share of citizens who regularly engage in sports," Dmitry Chernyshenko said.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the importance of using the Triumph ski and biathlon complex, the first stage of which was put into operation in 2019. "It is important for us to ensure the year-round use of the facility, this will expand the capabilities of the complex for the training of Russian athletes. In the conditions of sanctions, we are particularly in need of modern domestic bases to maintain the fitness and competitive activity of our athletes. The government has instructed the relevant ministries to consider the Sakhalin Region's application for state support for the construction of the second stage of the complex," the Deputy Prime Minister added.

It is reported that in 2022 modern sports facilities will appear in Dolinsky, Tymovsky and Smirnykhovsky districts of the Sakhalin region.
