Ski Federation established in Uzbekistan

According to him, interest in winter sports is growing in the Central Asian republic. “This can be judged by such projects as the international-level ski resort Amirsoy, which is being built in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region, as well as the Humo ice palace in Tashkent,” said B. Yakubov.

Vice-chairmen of the Federation Andrey Voronov, head coach of the Uzbekistan skiing team, Andrey Didichenko, master of sports in rugby, and Ivan Merkushkin, coach of the Uzbekistan snowboarding team, became the head coach of the Uzbekistan national skiing team. 

The publication notes that Uzbek athletes have not shown good results in skiing in recent years sports. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, Uzbekistan was represented by only one skier - slalom skier Komil Tukhtaev. The World Winter Universiade, which was held in March 2019 in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, was attended by five athletes - Komil Tukhtaev, Damir Bukharbaev, Aldiyor Gaipov (all skiers), Ekaterina Lyabina and Jasur Makhmudov (both snowboarders) under the guidance of coaches Ali Tukhtaev and Ivan Merkushin. Athletes did not win any medals.
