Sergey Cheremin: Moscow is ready for the World Cup

Plenary session “Not only football. How to Realize the Opportunities of the World Cup”, organized by the Department of External Economic and International Relations of the City of Moscow (DVMS), was held on January 24 at the Russia House as part of the ongoing 48th World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The day before, Sergey Cheryomin took part in another panel discussion at the Russia House on the use of digital technologies in modern big cities. “Today Moscow has become a post-industrial center,” the minister said. - In terms of the number and variety of electronic services that are available to companies, citizens, businesses, Moscow is now in second place after New York! Even 7-8 years ago, this was unimaginable.” The head of the DVMS also spoke about the development of the scientific center in Skolkovo as a world-class center of high-tech medicine.

In his speech, S. Cheremin emphasized that the capital of Russia is included in the list of the top twenty cities that implement the best versions of systems e-government, wireless communication is also developing at a faster pace in the city - now it is not only transport, but also city parks and public spaces. The Minister emphasized that digitalization allowed the city to reach a new level of security. “Moscow is in first place in the aggregation of a huge network of video cameras, closed surveillance systems - the number of cameras exceeds 130,000, which is more than in London, which has always been perceived as one of the safest cities in the world. We have seriously reduced the level of crime in the city,” said Sergey Cheremin.

Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Nikolai Nikiforov, Chairman of Vnesheconombank Sergey Gorkov, President of JSC ER-Telecom Holding also took part in the discussion about modern technologies Andrey Kuzyaev, CEO of Waves Platform Alexander Ivanov and others.

The 48th World Economic Forum is being held in the Swiss Alps from January 23 to 26, in the official Russian residence - Russia House - a rich business and cultural program continues .
