Russian freestyler Ilya Burov took bronze in ski acrobatics

Russian freestyle skier Ilya Burov won the bronze medal of the Olympic Games in Beijing in ski acrobatics.

The Russian athlete scored 114.93 points. The Chinese Qi Guangpu won the gold medal (129 points). The Ukrainian freestyler Alexander Abramenko (116.50) became the silver medalist. This medal was the first for the Ukrainian team at the Beijing Olympics.

Russian Stanislav Nikitin failed to get into the final stage of the competition, in the first final he took tenth place, gaining 119 points. The younger brother of Ilya Burov and three-time freestyle world champion Maxim Burov failed to reach the first final. In qualifying, he showed a result of 113.28 points and took tenth place.

Ilya Burov is 30 years old, he represents the Yaroslavl Regional Center for Sports Training. The Russian is the bronze medalist of the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

The Russian team is ninth in the medal standings of the Olympics, Russian athletes have won four gold, eight silver and 12 bronze medals. The Norwegian team remains the leader of the standings (13 gold, 7 silver, 8 bronze), the Germans are second (10-6-4), the Americans are third (8-7-4). Fourth place is taken by the Chinese team (7-4-2), followed by the Austrians (6-7-4), the Swedes (6-4-4), the Netherlands (6-4-3) and the Swiss (5-0-5) . In terms of the total number of awards, the Russians are in second place, having won 24 medals and second only to the Norwegians (28).

The Olympic Games in Beijing will end on February 20th.
