The RFU has signed an agreement with the Chinese company Rigour Tech on the supply of equipment.

The Russian Football Union (RFU) has signed a contract for the supply of equipment for the virtual determination of offside lines with the Chinese company Rigour Tech. This was announced on Friday by the press service of the RFU.

"To date, the virtual system for determining offside lines is undergoing the final test to obtain a FIFA certificate (International Football Federation — approx. TASS). After receiving the documents, it can be used at the matches of the World — Russian Premier League and in TV broadcasts," the message says.

"When choosing a new partner for the offside line system, quality, accuracy and speed of work were important to us. Rigour Tech's technology showed good results during testing. It is very important that FIFA is now conducting the final stage of certification of the system, after a positive decision we will have the opportunity to use it at matches and in TV broadcasts. I am sure that in the future the cooperation of the RFU with Rigour will not be limited to the provision of technology of offside lines," said Maxim Mitrofanov, Secretary General of the RFU. On July 7, 2022, the RFU communications service informed TASS that the video assistant referee (VAR) system from the Slomo provider does not currently have the functionality of virtual offside lines.

On August 25, the head of the RFU refereeing department Pavel Kamantsev told reporters that the organization expects the appearance of offside lines of the VAR system in the second part of the Russian Premier League season.
