Japanese Yuki Tsunoda will replace the Russian driver in Alpha Tauri in the F1 2021 season.

Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda will compete for the Alpha Tauri team in the next season of the Formula 1 Motor Racing World Championship. This was reported by the press service of the team.

20-year-old Tsunoda, who is a member of the Red Bull youth program (Alpha Tauri is a subsidiary of the concern), will replace the 26-year-old Russian Daniil Kvyat. The Japanese partner will be 24-year-old Frenchman Pierre Gasly.

“Like most racers, I always wanted to race in Formula 1, so I am very happy about this news. I understand that next season I will represent the hope of Japanese fans, and will do my best for them, said Yuki Tsunoda.

Yuki Tsunoda competed in Formula 2 in 2020. According to the results of the championship, the Japanese took third place. He is the 2018 Japanese Formula 4 Champion.
