Japanese PM considers Paralympics a success

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on Monday at a meeting with the leadership of the Tokyo 2020 organizing committee called the Tokyo Paralympic Games, which ended on September 5, successful.

“The Paralympics was a success, I thank from the bottom of my heart those who worked hard for its organization,” NHK TV channel reports the words of the head of government. “The people of Japan through these competitions gave the whole world strong emotions, and also demonstrated that efforts are rewarded.”

The Paralympic Games were held in the Japanese capital from August 24 to September 5. The Russian team took fourth place in the overall medal standings. In total, Russian athletes won 118 awards, which was a record for the team at the Paralympics. The team won 36 gold, 33 silver and 49 bronze medals.
