Japanese Athletes Become First-Ever Olympic Skateboarding Champions

Skateboarding has become a new sport in the Olympics.


The victory of Japanese skateboarders at the 2020 Olympics has inspired aspiring athletes from Tokyo to train even harder. They spend a lot of time at the skatepark, learning more and more tricks.

"I'm really happy because they are Japanese and they are young. They have achieved great success and I am very inspired!” - exclaimed skateboarder Saito Shiki.

In this park, according to local media reports, Horigome Yuto, the first ever Olympic skateboarding champion, began training. The 22-year-old athlete won gold in the street program of this sport. 13-year-old Momiji Nishiya took first place among women in street skateboarding. Bronze in the same competition was taken by 16-year-old Funa Nakayama. Both girls are from Japan. On August 4 and 5, skateboarding competitions will take place in the park area. Japanese athletes are considered favorites in this program as well.
