In the finals of the Alany-2018 competition, freestyle wrestler Geno Petriashvili defeated an opponent from Iran.

Wrestlers competed in the weight category up to 125 kilograms. In the final bout, the Iranian Jabel Sadezadeh and the bronze medalist of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the 2017 World Champion Geno Petriashvili met.

Throughout the bout, the initiative belonged to the Georgian athlete. The Iranian wrestler had to defend himself all the time. The tactics chosen by Geno Petriashvili left the Iranian with practically no opportunities for counterattacks. The fight became so exhausting for Jabel Sadezadeh that after the final whistle of the referee, he squatted down, unable to stand on his feet. As a result, Geno Petriashvili became the winner with a devastating score of 10:1.

Also, Georgian wrestlers won two silver medals. The medals went to Beka Lomtadze in the category up to 61 kilograms and Avtandil Kenchadze in the category up to 74 kilograms.

The Alany international freestyle wrestling tournament is being held in Vladikavkaz for the second time. This year wrestlers from 33 countries of the world came to the North Caucasus. The prize fund of each weight category was $10,000. Half goes to the winner, 20% to the silver medalist, 10% each to the winner's coach and the bronze medalist.
