Freestyler Smirnova deservedly became the winner of the Beijing Olympics.


Russian freestyler Anastasia Smirnova was able to overcome the strongest rivals and deservedly won the bronze medal of the Olympic Games in Beijing. This was stated by the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin, whose commentary is given by the press service of the department.


On Sunday, Smirnova won the bronze of the Olympics in the mogul discipline, the athlete showed a result of 77.72 points. Australian Jakara Anthony, who scored 83.09 points, became the Olympic champion. Silver was won by the silver and bronze medalist of the world championships Jaelin Kauf from the USA (80.28).


“Congratulations to Anastasia on Olympic bronze! Our athlete confidently passed the qualification and the final rounds of the competition. In the superfinal, she quickly overcame the descent, performed beautiful and difficult jumping jumping, overtook the strongest rivals and deservedly became the winner of the Games, said Matytsin.


“Last year, Anastasia became the world champion in mogul and bronze in mogul, and we expected a good performance from  Olympic Games. Moreover, in women mogul we we have not had Olympic medals for the last 28 years. Congratulations on the success of Anastasia's personal trainers, the coaches of the Russian freestyle team, and the Russian Freestyle Federation! Smirnova is 19 years old and represents the CSKA society. The athlete is the 2021 world champion in the pair mogul, and also the bronze medalist of the world championship in the individual competitions.


The Russian national team takes third place in the medal standings, having won one gold, two silver and two bronze medals. The first are the Norwegians (two gold and one bronze medal), the second are the Swedes (two gold medals). On February 7, nine sets of awards will be played at the Olympics. Games will end on February 20th.
