Formula 1 will remain in Baku until the end of 2023

The organizers of the race extended the contract for holding the stage in the Azerbaijani capital.

Azad Rahimov, Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, and Chase Carrey, Executive Director of Formula 1, have signed a contract to host a stage of the World Auto Racing Championship in Baku until the end of 2030. The current agreement expires at the end of 2020.

“We are very pleased to have extended this agreement. In a short time this race has become one of the most popular of the season. Azerbaijan provides a great welcome for everyone in Formula 1, -  Chase said Carrie. He was quoted by TASS.

According to Azad Rahimov, the new agreement will allow Azerbaijan to "maximize commercial revenues through increased attendance (...) and a new sponsorship approach to attract our local companies to the global Formula 1 platform" .

Since 2016, the Formula 1 World Championship has been held in Baku. In 2019, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held from 26 to 28 April.
