Football Association of Central Asia headed by Rustam Emomali

The headquarters of the organization will be located in Dushanbe.


At the next Congress of the Football Association of Central Asia (CAFA, Central Asian Football Association), held on April 24 in the capital of Tajikistan, the President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan and Mayor of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali was elected its new president.

The Football Association of Central Asia was established on the initiative of Iran in 2014, it includes the football federations of Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Before that, the Central Asian countries were part of the Central Asian Football Federation and South Asia, where Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka were also participants. Iran was a member of the Western Asian Football Federation.

Since 2015, CAFA has been headed by representatives of Uzbekistan, its headquarters was in Tashkent. Now the headquarters of the Association is moving to Dushanbe.
