FINA rescheduled the World Aquatics Championships in Doha for 2024

This decision was made after the World Cup in Fukuoka, Japan was postponed until the summer of 2023.

The World Aquatics Championships in Doha (Qatar), which was originally scheduled for the summer of 2023, has been postponed to 2024. This was announced on Tuesday by the press service of the International Swimming Federation (FINA).

The competition will be held from February 2 to February 18.

The decision to postpone the date of the competition was made after the 20th World Championship in Fukuoka, Japan, was postponed until the summer of 2023. Initially, the World Cup in Japan was supposed to be held from July 16 to August 1, 2021.

"At FINA, we strive to provide athletes with additional opportunities to participate in the championship. Today's announcement is a testament to that. We are very lucky to have an event organizer in Doha who shares our passion for water sports, showing willingness and flexibility in organizing this prestigious event for the benefit of athletes all over the world," the FINA president said. In Doha, 76 medals will be awarded in six disciplines: swimming, synchronized swimming, open water swimming, diving, high diving and water polo. The World Cup will also become a qualification tournament for the 2024 Olympic Games.
