Federal project "Sport is the norm of life" will be implemented in Irkutsk

The Ministry of Sports and the Irkutsk Region signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of sports. 


The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin held a meeting with Interim Governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev, during which an agreement was signed on cooperation and interaction in the field of physical culture and sports within the federal project "Sport  ; is the norm of life. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.


Cooperation involves the joint development of sports infrastructure on the territory of the Irkutsk region, equipping sports facilities and teams with the necessary equipment, organizing and holding mass events, and comprehensive support athletes with disabilities.


“It is necessary to create sports infrastructure within walking distance in districts, municipalities,” said Matytsin. — We are talking, first of all, about prefabricated, low-cost sports facilities. Based on the experience of many regions, we see that such sports grounds become the center of attraction for people, a very comfortable social environment immediately appears for both children and adults.


Kobzev noted that currently about 40% of the inhabitants of the Irkutsk region are engaged in physical culture and sports, by 2024 this figure is planned to be increased to 55% in accordance with national objectives. “The share of children and young people who choose a healthy lifestyle and systematically go in for physical culture and sports is now more than 67%. By 2024, we plan to increase this figure to 85%. For this, the tasks of providing sports infrastructure are being solved,” said Kobzev.


The Demography National Project, designed for 2019–2024, includes five federal projects: Financial Support for Families When Children are Born, Employment Promotion women”, “Older generation”, “Strengthening public health”, “Sport is the norm of life”. The total budget for the next six years will amount to 3.1 trillion rubles.
