Doha prepares for the FIFA World Cup

FIFA President Infantino noted Qatar's progress in preparing for the 2022 World Cup.


The President of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, noted the progress of Qatar in the preparations for the 2022 World Cup. Infantino's comment to TASS was provided by the press service of the Supreme Committee for the Hosting and Legacy of the World Cup.


The World Cup games will be held from 21 November to 18 December 2022. 


“This year is certainly a very difficult one for the whole world, and football is no exception,” said Gianni Infantino. — Despite all the difficulties, in the last few months we see steady progress in preparation for an unforgettable World Cup in Qatar. This once again proves the country's strong and unwavering commitment to hosting an exceptional tournament, the legacy of which will no doubt be felt long after 2022. This progress has been made under the leadership of the Emir of Qatar (Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani - TASS note), whom I want to personally thank."


“In addition to the very important labor law reforms recently announced by the government, we are seeing progress in building stadiums and also in applying strict measures to ensure the safety and health of workers. During my short visit to Doha a few weeks ago, I saw for myself how well the preparations are going, and l look forward to the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. I am confident that it is already having a transformative development effect on the country and the entire region, that fans from all over the world will experience unique emotions here and, of course, that it will be the best World Cup in history, added the FIFA President.


Currently there are three stadiums open to which will host matches of the World Cup, Al-Janub, Evolution City and Khalifa ”, they are fully operational and accepting matches. Al Bayt, Al Rayyan and Al Tumama are in the final stages of construction. In total, the world championship in Qatar will host eight arenas.
