The first competition among fans of sports computer games was held in the capital of the Republic. The competition was timed to coincide with the world football championship held in Russia.

According to the chairman of the committee on youth affairs of the republic, Suleyman Egiev, only 30 players were originally supposed to participate. However, there were more than 5 times more applicants, so the number of esports players was doubled. The winner of the tournament was Akhmed Ganzhiev, who was awarded with an expensive smartphone and a cash prize.

Head of the Republic Yunus-Bek Yevkurov noted that such events unite young people of Ingushetia. At the same time, the politician emphasized that the organizers are obliged to communicate with the participants and carry out explanatory work among them so that young people do not go astray.

The Russian Federation became the first country in the world to recognize e-sports back in 2001 official type of competition. A year earlier, the Russian Federation of Computer Sports (FCS) was founded.

Currently, the International Olympic Committee is considering an application to recognize eSports as an Olympic sport. At the Asian Games 2018, which will be held in Indonesia in autumn, eSports competitions will be held in a demonstration mode. Currently, the turnover of the global eSports market is constantly growing and, according to some reports, may exceed $1.6 billion by 2021.
