Chinese ice hockey team arrives in Moscow for pre-Olympic training

The Chinese ice hockey team arrived in Moscow on August 7 to compete and prepare for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

On the morning of the same day, in order to welcome the arriving athletes from China, a welcoming ceremony was held in the Greenwood business park in the north-west of the Moscow region, which was attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui and other officials.

During training , which will last until mid-December, 35 male players will play in approximately 50 Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) games, and 30 female players will play in approximately 40 Women's Hockey League (WHL) games.

"The main goal is to improve the performance of our hockey players and improve their technical and tactical skills, especially confrontation ability and combat ability, to ensure good win the glory of the Motherland, said Wang Xuan, ice hockey team leader for the Beijing Winter Olympics.

According to him, before leaving for Moscow, the team developed a number of prevention plans to ensure the safety of team members during their training sessions under the serious situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
