Only a month remains before the start of the Winter Olympics in Beijing. Against this background, the Chinese authorities are actively implementing measures to prevent outbreaks of coronavirus infection.

The Winter Olympics will be held in China for the first time. The Games will open on February 4 in Beijing and the city of Zhangjiakou in neighboring Hebei province.
On Monday, China hosted a rehearsal for the awards ceremony next to the National Stadium "Bird's Nest", where the opening ceremony of the Olympics will take place.

During rehearsal, which was attended by representatives of the media, employees in masks played the role of medalists. They climbed on a pedestal, took medals and hung them around their necks.

On Sunday in China, the number of new cases of coronavirus infection was 161, with 90 of them in the city of Xi'an in Shaanxi province. This city of about 13 million people has been effectively quarantined for more than 10 days.

New Year's Eve events have been canceled across the country as authorities have been cautious in trying to prevent new outbreaks.

> Only local spectators will be admitted to the Olympic competitions. However, organizers have yet to release details, including how many spectators will have access.

A so-called "bubble" system is planned to physically isolate game-related personnel as part of efforts to prevent the spread of the virus.
