Vladivostok and Khabarovsk may host Rugby World Cup matches in 2027 or 2031.

Rugby World Cup matches in 2027 or 2031 may be held in Vladivostok and Khabarovsk. Igor Artemiev, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Russian Rugby Federation (RFR), told journalists about this.

Earlier it became known that the RDF will submit applications for hosting the Rugby World Cup in 2027 and 2031.

“We can show in Europe and   Asia. Our main difference is Vladivostok and Khabarovsk. We believe that holding the tournament there can greatly affect both the popularization of rugby in the Russian Far East, and in the countries of the Asia-Pacific basin as a whole. Vladivostok and  Khabarovsk are natural centers of attraction, - said Artemyev, adding that in including these cities infrastructure development is necessary.

The Russian national team has twice participated in World Cup (2011, 2019), the tournament has been held since 1995. In 2023 the World Cup will be held in France, in 2019 the tournament was held in Japan.
