Almaty half marathon will take place on June 20

On June 20, 2021, Almaty will host a large running competition for sports fans - the Almaty Half Marathon. Several thousand people will take part in the race. Participants will run along the main streets of the city. 


The start will be given at 7:00 and 8:00 at the Park of the First President along Al-Farabi Avenue, the finish line will be at the Central Stadium along Abay Avenue. On the day of the competition, the roads of the city will be blocked.

Participants can cover one of the distances: 
  • 21.1 km half marathon
  • 10 km race
  • li>
  • Nordic walking 10 km
  • Ekiden team relay – total distance of 21.1 km divided between 4 participants

“Mass events have been banned in Kazakhstan for more than a year, but we were finally able to prove that sports events should remain in the lives of our fellow citizens, - says the director of the Courage to be the first corporate fund Saltanat Kazybayeva. – This is important for health, it is important for spreading knowledge about how to behave, how to play sports during the quarantine period. What we do, the organizers of sports events for ordinary people, not professional athletes, is a huge contribution to the formation of a healthy nation. We have the power to bring thousands and even hundreds of thousands of people into the sport, and we will continue to do so with pleasure and great professionalism.”

All participants who complete the distance will receive a finisher's medal. The top three men and women in the 21.1 km will also receive cash prizes. Leaders will also be revealed in the age categories at distances of 10 km and 21 km, as well as among the relay teams.

Since August 2020, sporting events have been held in the world in compliance with sanitary safety measures. So, mass amateur competitions have already returned in Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, China, Japan and other countries.
