About 600 Russian athletes are preparing for the Beijing Olympics

About 600 athletes are part of the expanded Russian team for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. This was reported to TASS by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian FederationDmitry Chernyshenko.

“Now the final stage of preparations for the Olympics is underway,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko. - In January, the final composition of the team that will represent Russia at the Beijing Olympics will be determined. There are about 600 people in the expanded staff. I am sure that these are the best athletes who will set new world records and bring dozens of gold medals to the country.”

The Deputy Prime Minister noted the readiness of the training bases that will be used in preparing athletes for the Olympics. Sports facilities are located in the Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, Krasnodar and Perm regions, as well as in the Irkutsk, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Moscow and Yaroslavl regions. “Nine sports bases where our Olympians will train are completely ready, their infrastructure has already been tested more than once during training and competitions at the Russian and international levels,” saidDmitry Chernyshenko. “Athletes will feel comfortable to focus on improving their professional skills.”

Dmitry Chernyshenko stressed that one of the goals of the state program “Development of Physical Culture and Sports” is to enter the national Olympic team in the top three in the overall standings of the Games. For this, comprehensive training of athletes in winter disciplines is being carried out. 14 targeted comprehensive programs have been formed, which include areas of training and key indicators for each sport.

The Beijing Olympic Games will be held from February 4 to 20, 2022.
