Opening the ceremony, Ambassador of the Russian Federation Alexander Timonin stressed that the date of the event was not chosen by chance. “Exactly one year later, the opening ceremony of the World Cup in football», —  he noted.

«Our country for the first time in history hosts the world football championship. However, as you know from the experience of the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia takes a very responsible approach to organizing and holding such events. In eleven cities of our country, which had the honor to host the championship, there was a great deal of work to develop infrastructure», — Timonin emphasized.

The Ambassador noted that those who come to Russia will have unforgettable impressions. “They will not only be able to see the matches of the best of the best from the stands. They will meet Russian culture, the history of our country and, of course, our traditional cordiality and hospitality  — said the head of the diplomatic mission.

He also expressed the hope that the current presentation will encourage Korean football fans not only to purchase commemorative coins, but and think about going personally to Russia and supporting the Korean team at the world championship. In this series, coins were made of precious (silver, gold) and non-precious metals. Their main feature is the fact that for the first time when minting on the front side was indicated not the year of issue of the coin, but the year of the event to which it is dedicated.

The presentation was attended by well-known in South Korea Russians — TV presenter Ilya Belyakov, and model and blogger Angelina Danilova.

The 2018 World Cup matches will be held from 14 June to 15 July at 12 stadiums in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan , Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Samara, Sochi and Rostov-on-Don.
