2022 Winter Olympics opening rehearsal held in Beijing

The Beijing National Stadium, known as the "Bird's Nest", hosted a set rehearsal for the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics on Saturday evening, during which the dark sky was lit up with amazing fireworks, and a 30-minute performance by non-professional performers attracted a lot of people's attention.

The opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics will take place on February 4 at 20:00 Beijing time. Before the ceremony, a preparatory event will take place, which will create a warm atmosphere for the opening ceremony of the Games.

It is worth noting that the participants in the preparatory event are people aged 5 to 70 who are not professional performers, but simple ordinary citizens. Most of them came from Beijing and the nearby province of Hebei (Northern China).

"On February 4, we will show the whole world the beauty of our country's elderly people, and let the world see that our pensioners are cheerful, full of strength and energy. I was able to catch the Beijing Winter Olympics in my life, I really feel very happy,” said Han Bin, a 74-year-old participant.

Winter Olympics opening ceremony, scheduled for February 4, just coincides with the beginning of spring, the first of the 24 seasons of the Chinese agricultural year according to the lunar calendar. Thus, on that day, all the performers will not only give people around the world a colorful visual feast, but also celebrate Chinese New Year together.

"The clothes we are wearing are a theme costume for the twenty-four seasons of Chinese February 4, the opening ceremony of the Games, is also the start of lunar spring, so we really hope that we can tell the whole world the story of spring through our beautiful dances," said Bai Mei b>, another artist.

Plans for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games have been approved by March 2021, and the rehearsal is now in its final stages after several months of preparation. Since 90% of the performers at the opening ceremony are students, training and rehearsals are held on weekends.

"I am proud to be able to participate in this event. Thanks to this, I have greatly increased my self-discipline and ability to manage my time well" Wang Yutian.

The opening ceremony, which will feature low-carbon and science and technology innovation, is intended to express the desire to form a community with a common destiny for mankind and hold "thrifty, safe and bright" Games.

According to the organizers, about 3,000 people will take part in the opening ceremony. Due to cold weather and the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been cut to 100 minutes.
