More than 6.6 thousand children were born in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in 2022. This allowed the region to become the leader in fertility in the Ural Federal District and take sixth place among the subjects of Russia, the press service of the regional government reported on Thursday.

"Yamal is on the first place in terms of fertility in the Ural Federal District and on the sixth among the subjects of Russia in 2022. Over the past 12 months, 6,683 babies have been born in the region, most of whom are the third and subsequent children in the family. The number of Yamal residents with many children increased by 8.4%. At the end of 2022, their number amounted to 15,815 families," the report says.

Several measures of social support for families with children are being implemented in Yamal. The amount of maternity capital at the birth of the second child is 150 thousand rubles, the third and subsequent - 500 thousand rubles. Mothers are also provided with lump-sum payments of up to 17.8 thousand rubles, a gift set with children's accessories. Large families can recover free of charge in a rehabilitation center in Tyumen, use compensation for rest and other support measures.
