The Lebanese team of the All-Russian Public movement "Volunteers of Victory" will hold a commemorative event dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War on Tuesday on the capital's Ramlet-el-Beida embankment. As reported by the correspondent of TASS, the leader of the volunteersTatiana Helu, groups of compatriots who will arrive in Beirut from different parts of the country, as well as representatives of the Lebanese public, will take part in the action "Fiery Pictures of War".

"The contours of the Order of the Patriotic War, established in 1942, and the inscription "Lebanon remembers" will be laid out with candles on the sand," Helu said. According to her, a minute of silence will be held on the occasion of the "Day of Remembrance and Sorrow". The event will be attended by the Russian Ambassador to LebanonAlexander Rudakov.

"A year ago, we laid out an installation of lighted candles in the form of a Yak-3 aircraft and the inscription "Lebanon remembers: Normandy — Neman," the leader of the volunteers noted. "These fighters were used to beat the fascists by French pilots who went to the Soviet—German front from the Lebanese Rayak airbase." Tatiana Helu recalled that at the call of General Charles de Gaulle (1890-1970), an aviation regiment was formed in Rayak, which received the name "Normandy — Neman".

"Such commemorative events are very important for Russian-Lebanese families, which honor war veterans, and the younger generation of compatriots," she stressed.
