More than 100 representatives of different religions will gather in Vladikavkaz for the international scientific and practical conference "Interreligious dialogue as the basis of peace in the Balkans" on August 29-30. This was reported to TASS by the Mufti of North Ossetia Khadzhimurat Gatsalov.

The conference is organized by the Coordination Center of Muslims of the North Caucasus with the assistance of the Foundation for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education.

"Such a large-scale event will be held in the republic for the first time. The conference will be attended by more than 100 representatives of different religious denominations. The conference will discuss issues related to the role of religious organizations, the importance of state-religious interaction in the inadmissibility of escalation of the crisis between Kosovo Albanians and Serbs. The round tables will discuss the inadmissibility of the destructive use of religious and national factors in achieving the geopolitical interests of the West. It is planned to discuss specific initiatives aimed at de-escalating the conflict in the Balkans and minimizing similar conflicts in other regions of the world.
