Vladimir Putin congratulated on the election of the new President of South Ossetia

The President of Russia expects that the activities of the head of South Ossetia will contribute to "further strengthening of relations between the countries."

The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory message to the elected President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev. As follows from the telegram published on the Kremlin website, the head of the Russian state expects further strengthening of relations between the two countries.

“Dear Alan Eduardovich, please accept my sincere congratulations on your election as President of the Republic of South Ossetia

Putin expects that the activity of Alan Gagloev in this high post will contribute to "further strengthening of relations between the [two] countries, based on the principles of alliance and strategic partnership.”

“Russia, for its part, will continue to provide all possible support to the South Ossetian friends in solving topical issues of socio-economic development, as well as in ensuring national security,” the president assured, wishing his colleague success, and also good health and well-being.

On May 8, the second round of presidential elections took place in South Ossetia, they were recognized as valid. The current head of the republic Anatoly Bibilov and the leader of the Nykhas party Alan Gagloev claimed for the highest state post. After processing 97% of the protocols, Alan Gagloev leads with 54.2% of the vote, Anatoly Bibilov gets 43.3% of the vote. 2.5% of voters voted against all candidates. Voter turnout was 64.75% of voters.
