Vietnam localizes production of Sputnik V

Russia and Vietnam have reached an agreement on the localization of production of the Sputnik V vaccine in the republic, the technical implementation of the project will begin in the first quarter of 2022. This was announced to TASS on Tuesday by the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin.

According to Sergey Katyrin, the signing of the agreement between the consortium participants is scheduled for early December.

“The technical implementation of the project, the investment in which is estimated at $60-70 million, is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2022. In this case, already in the first quarter of 2023, it will be possible to organize full-fledged production. The plant is planned to produce at least 40 million doses of the two-component vaccine per year. The Ministry of Health of Vietnam will be the main buyer of its products,” said the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

Sergey Katyrin added that the joint venture will be located on the territory of the Russian-Vietnamese industrial park in the province of Quang Ninh (Deep C Russia).

Sputnik V received registration from the Vietnamese Ministry of Health on March 23, becoming one of the first among eight foreign vaccines approved for use in the country.
