The President of Vietnam expressed interest in increasing the supply of Russian vaccines and establishing the production of Sputnik V in the country.


President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (NRV)Nguyen Xuan Phucin a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed interest in increasing the supply of Russian vaccines and establishing the production of Sputnik V in this country. This was reported on Thursday by the Kremlin press service following the leaders' conversation.

The leaders also agreed to continue contacts through various channels.

Earlier it was reported that Vietnam would hold talks with the Russian Federation on the purchase Sputnik V vaccines. According to the proposal of the Ministry of Health of the Republic, approved by the head of government, the local company T & T will negotiate with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) on the commercial supply of Sputnik V in the amount of 40 million doses. According to the Republican Ministry of Health, the Vietnamese side had already reached an agreement with the RDIF on the supply of 20 million doses of the vaccine in 2021. Vietnam is also discussing with the Russian Federation the possibility of creating on its territory a plant for the production of Sputnik V with a capacity of up to 100 million doses of vaccine per year.

In addition to the Russian drug, six more coronavirus vaccines have been registered and approved for use in Vietnam.
