Vaccination with Russian drug "Sputnik V" begins in Azerbaijan

From May 18, citizens over 18 years of age who have no contraindications can get vaccinated with Sputnik V.

Vaccination of the population against coronavirus with the Russian drug Sputnik V begins on May 18 in Azerbaijan. This is stated in a message released on Monday by the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan, the State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance and the Association for the Management of Medical Territorial Units of the Republic. Sputnik V," the message says. It is clarified that any citizen over 18 years of age who has no contraindications can be vaccinated with this drug.

According to the medical authorities, the initial vaccination with Sputnik V will be carried out in the Baku Health Center.

In Azerbaijan Vaccination of the population against coronavirus began on January 18. To date, CoronaVac preparations from the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech and Vaxzevria from the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca are used for immunization. The latter is introduced only to citizens of 60 years and older. The first batch of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine was delivered to Azerbaijan on May 2. By the end of the month, new batches of this drug are expected to be delivered.

According to the operational headquarters, almost 1.8 million people, or about 18% of the population, have already been vaccinated in the country.
