Vaccination rates in the Novosibirsk Region have increased more than sixfold since the beginning of autumn.

The rate of vaccination against coronavirus in the Novosibirsk region since the beginning of autumn, when the next wave of COVID-19 cases began in Russia, has increased by more than six times. The authorities attribute this to the introduction of a QR code system for vaccinated people, Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Andrey Travnikov told TASS on Thursday.

“There is a significant increase. Compared with the rates of vaccination in September and early October, today the daily number of Novosibirsk residents who come to receive the first component of the vaccine has increased six or even seven times. Over the past three weeks, about 12-14 thousand people have received their first vaccination. Of course, the introduction of QR codes and serious information work pushed many people to this decision,” said Andrey Travnikov.

He added that in recent weeks there has been a trend in the region towards mass revaccination. Since the Sputnik Light vaccine is used for it, simultaneous vaccination and revaccination campaigns do not lead to a shortage of the drug, stressed Andrey Travnikov.

Mandatory vaccination of workers in cultural institutions has been introduced in the Novosibirsk Region, public catering, housing and communal services, social security, hotels and a number of other industries. There is a system of QR codes when visiting mass events, as well as restaurants, cafes, recreation centers, and sanatoriums. According to the governor, no new restrictions are planned in the region.

“We continue to grow (in terms of the number of cases), but every week the growth rate is decreasing. For the Novosibirsk region, the peculiarity of the fourth wave is that it started a little later than in other regions, even Siberian ones. Our start was delayed by an average of two weeks compared to our neighbors. And taking into account the fact that now we see that the situation has stabilized in the European part of the country, we can predict that in the near future we will pass the peak, so we are not going to introduce any new restrictions, ”the agency’s interlocutor explained.
