To date, 12.4% of the country's population has been vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine.

South Korean cinemas will provide a discount to citizens who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus. The country's association of film distributors announced this on Wednesday.

The action, designed to support the government's efforts to achieve herd immunity by the end of this year, as well as increase the attendance of cinemas that have been empty since the start of the pandemic, will last until the end of June. In accordance with its terms, citizens who have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the vaccine will be able to purchase a ticket with a 50-60% discount by presenting a vaccination certificate at the box office. Thus, for those vaccinated, the ticket price on a weekday will be from 5 to 6 thousand won (4.5 - 5.5 dollars) instead of the usual 10 - 11 dollars.

At the same time, the government announced plans to resume in the second half government support for film distributors by distributing discount coupons for visiting cinemas among residents of the country.

To date, 6.35 million people in South Korea have been vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine, which is 12.4% of the country's population.
