In Uzbekistan, esports is officially recognized as a separate sport

The President of Uzbekistan signed a decree on the popularization of esports in the republic.


President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on the development and popularization of esports in the republic. The document was published on Thursday by the newspaper Narodnoye Slovo, the press organ of the government and parliament of the country.

In accordance with the resolution, esports is officially recognized in the republic as a separate sport, the document provides for the creation of a system of training and retraining of professional esports players and coaches, qualified referees and commentators, as well as other specialists in esports.

It is planned to organize republican and international championships and tournaments in the republic, as well as "establishing worthy participation" of representatives of Uzbekistan in international and regional competitions in the types of esports.

It is expected that the Uzbekistan Esports Championship, the Cabinet of Ministers Cup and the Youth Cup tournaments will be held annually in Uzbekistan from 2023.
