International melodies of languages and a riot of bright colors: the II BRICS International Youth Camp opened in the Ulyanovsk Region, attended by 60 young leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

The purpose of the event, which will last until August 6, is to attract experts, youth leaders and organizations of the BRICS countries to solve problems for the development of the regions of the countries of the association and to promote youth cooperation of the "five" countries.

Among the issues discussed this year are the conservation of water resources, environmental actions, youth involvement, rural activity.

The organizers of the event are the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), the Government of the Ulyanovsk Region and the Russia –BRICS Project Office, operating on the basis of the Ulyanovsk – Cultural Capital Foundation for Creative Technologies.

"Today, 60 participants and more than 10 experts gathered on the territory of the Slavyansky Podvorye to discuss various environmental issues, develop a series of projects, initiate ideas and solve environmental problems that unite the Ulyanovsk Region and the BRICS countries as a whole," said the program Director of the Project Office of the International Youth Cooperation "Russia-BRICS"Diana Kovela.

The participants of the camp were greeted by the Governor of the Ulyanovsk regionAlexey Russian, who noted the development of strong and equal relations between the BRICS countries, despite foreign policy problems.

"We see that the power and influence of the BRICS alliance is only getting stronger over the years. And this is not surprising, because it is impossible to separate those who are united by common goals, dreams and interests. Such unity of opinions and views is primarily the merit of young leaders. Thanks to your initiative and openness, international contacts are multiplying and developing. Youth is not only our future, but also the present. This is eloquently evidenced by the results of the first camp, held in September last year. Then the whole world saw how effective collective work aimed at the benefit of our planet can be. I am very proud that the Ulyanovsk Region has once again become a platform for a global dialogue of young and caring people," the head of the region said.

The Russian Foreign Minister sent his greetings to the camp participantsSergey Lavrov. According to the head of Russian diplomacy, the BRICS countries are doing a lot to find answers to the most important challenges and threats that humanity is facing today, and also have great importance in shaping a positive, forward-looking international agenda.

"The theme of the event chosen by the organizers is very relevant. I am convinced that the rich program of the youth camp will provide participants with good opportunities for self-development, self–improvement, obtaining new knowledge and skills, and will also allow them to implement joint projects and initiatives, establish mutually beneficial contacts and get to know the unique cultural and historical heritage of our multinational and multi-confessional homeland," he saidSergey Lavrov.

The participants of the camp were also welcomed in video format by representatives of foreign countries, including the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Republic of IndiaAnurag Thakur and Vice President of the All-China Youth FederationXiu Xiao.

After the opening ceremony, the young leaders took part in a panel discussion, during which they discussed environmental issues. In addition to practical measures to clean up the territories of nature protection zones, participants will have a trip to the geopark "Undoria", where they will have to walk an ecological trail ten kilometers long, which will allow nonresident guests to appreciate the beauty of our region.

By the end of the shift, the participants, who will be divided into several international teams, will have to develop and protect projects on ecology and sustainable development.

Recall that this year the initiative to hold a BRICS Camp was supported by the All-China Youth Federation and included in the official Action Plan of China's BRICS Presidency in 2022.
