Construction of the second bridge across the Ob began in Surgut

The need for construction is due to the fact that the existing bridge is overloaded.

Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Ural Federal District Vladimir Yakushev and the Governor of UgraNatalia Komarova has launched the construction of a second bridge crossing over the Ob River near the largest city in the region - Surgut, a TASS correspondent reports.

The project provides for the construction of a four-lane highway with a length of more than 45 km, including a unique bridge with a length of 1.76 km. Storm sewers, local sewage treatment plants and noise protection screens will also be installed. 10 thousand people will work at the facility. JSC "Mostostroy-11" was recognized as the winner of the competition for the performance of construction works. The contractor's warranty obligations are up to eight years for individual elements of the bridge crossing.

"The event we are attending is very important. We have been talking about the need for this object for a long time. The bridge that is working now is very seriously overloaded. And it is important not to stop the traffic flow, to build this object in time. <...> They ["Mostostroy-11"] will cope with this object, they have made more complex structures, so the technical tasks that they face are definitely within their capabilities," he saidVladimir Yakushev.

According to him, this facility will give a powerful breakthrough in terms of employment and investment. He noted that up to 10 thousand people will work here at the peak, and so many jobs "in our time is great." Vladimir Yakushev stressed that it is necessary to approach with "triple responsibility" in order to meet the designated deadlines for the construction of an important facility for the country. In turnNatalia Komarova said that she is confident in the professionalism of the team working on the future bridge crossing. "These are companies that have never let the customer down, have always done the work in accordance with the design and estimate documentation," she said.

The project was included in the five-year road construction plan approved by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1601-r dated June 20, 2022. According to the plan, funding from the federal budget in 2025-2027 is provided in the amount of 27.6 billion rubles, from the regional - over 43.1 billion rubles.

The need to build a second bridge crossing over the Ob River near Surgut was supported by the Government of the country and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. According to the authorities, the commissioning of the new bridge will allow to redistribute traffic flows, unloading the operated bridge over the Ob river in the Surgut district, operating in triple overload mode, will create an alternative direction for the round-the-clock passage of heavy vehicles, will provide stable road communication with other regions of Russia.
