The Russian environmental operator is preparing concession projects for the construction of waste sorting, composting and transshipment stations in the Arkhangelsk Region, Yakutia and the Krasnoyarsk Territory with a total capacity of 941 thousand tons by the end of 2024. This was reported on Tuesday by the press service of the REO.

A comprehensive waste management facility with a processing capacity of 275 thousand tons per year will be built for the needs of Arkhangelsk, the volume of investments is 2.9 billion rubles, the conclusion of the concession is planned in November 2022. A concession has been signed in Yakutia, within the framework of which it is planned to build transshipment stations and a sorting complex in Yakutsk. The total capacity of the facilities is 120 thousand tons per year, the volume of investments is 2 billion rubles. Sorting facilities will be built for two more concessions," said Denis Butsaev, the head of the REO, whose words are quoted in the message.

In addition, five concessions are being prepared in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Sorting and landfill in Nazarovo will be built for 1.6 billion rubles, sorting in Norilsk for 1.2 billion rubles, sorting and landfill in Motygino for 221 million rubles, sorting and landfill in Ermakovsky for 675 million rubles, a recycling and processing enterprise in the Left-Bank zone for 1.25 billion rubles.

Earlier, REO began preparing six concessions for the creation of waste management enterprises in the Far East and the Arctic with the National Center for Public-Private Partnership. It is planned to build two waste treatment and disposal complexes with a total capacity of 130 thousand tons per year in the Arctic, investments will amount to more than 2.8 billion rubles. Three more waste treatment and disposal complexes and four waste transfer stations will be built in the Far East for more than 3 billion rubles. The total cost of the projects is about 6 billion rubles, REO will finance the projects at the expense of a bond loan.

The reform of the waste management industry began in Russia on January 1, 2019. It is designed to make the handling of garbage more civilized, solve the problem of illegal landfills and significantly reduce the volume of waste exported to landfills. By 2024, it is planned to build 220 new modern complexes for the processing, placement and disposal of waste only under the national project "Ecology". It is planned to send 100% of household waste for processing or sorting, 50% will be sent for burial. A total of 868 waste management facilities are to be built or reconstructed by 2030. As of May 1, 2022, the share of waste directed to processing (sorting) was 48.1%, directed to disposal - 11.4%.
