Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko said that the decision was made at the request of the President of the Republic Sadyr Zhaparov.

The Russian Federation plans to increase the quota for students from Kyrgyzstan to study at Russian universities at the expense of the federal budget to 700 places next academic year. This was announced on Monday by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

"More than 14 thousand students from Kyrgyzstan study in the Russian Federation, 7 thousand of them — at the expense of the federal budget of the Russian Federation. In 2022-2023, 500 Kyrgyz students were accepted. At the request of the President of Kyrgyzstan, next year we will increase this quota of scholarships to 700," the speaker of the Federation Council said at the plenary session of the Russian—Kyrgyz women's forum "Dialogue of Women of Russia and Kyrgyzstan for the Future."

She noted that bilateral cooperation is also strengthening in the field of secondary education. "Our presidents have taken the initiative to build nine schools in Kyrgyzstan with instruction in Russian. Senators of the Russian Federation are always attentive to such projects and provide them with full support. We are sure that the planned plans will definitely be implemented," Valentina Matvienko said.

She said that during a meeting with the wife of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Aigul Zhaparova, she asked her to "take patronage over this project." "I am sure that if she takes it up, we will even implement this program ahead of schedule," said the chairman of the upper house of Parliament.

Valentina Matvienko reminded that Russia is sending Russian teachers to Kyrgyzstan. She stressed that Russia is ready to expand this program "and send even more teachers from Russia." "This not only affects the improvement of the quality of education, the creation of a single educational space, it is a good joint school for teachers of Kyrgyzstan and Russia — to exchange experience, methods," the speaker of the Federation Council said.
