The KCR celebrated the 100th anniversary of the formation of the republic

The celebration of the 100th anniversary of the republic's formation took place in Karachay-Cherkessia.


The celebration of the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic (KCR) took place on Wednesday. Festive events, folk festivals, the opening of facilities, including the Center for the Identification and Development of Gifted and Talented Children "Sputnik" were held in all districts and cities of the republic. Stylized thematic platforms were opened, master classes and creative laboratories were organized.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak took part in the events dedicated to the anniversary of the republic, according to the website of the Government of the Russian Federation. "Karachay-Cherkessia is a special region, the centenary of the republic is a symbol of unity and cohesion. The investment attractiveness of the region is growing, the manufacturing sector is expanding, and the unemployment rate is decreasing. Here, magnificent nature is combined with ancient history and modern architecture, but the most important value of the republic is people. <...> I cordially congratulate you on the centennial anniversary, 100 years is the starting point for new, bold and ambitious transformations," the Deputy Prime Minister's words are quoted on the website.

During the trip, Alexander Novak met with the leadership of the region, a meeting on socio-economic development. The participants discussed the implementation of projects and programs of economic development of the region aimed at creating comfortable living conditions for local residents, including increasing the number of jobs, increasing investment attractiveness, as well as the development of water and gas supply, the progress of gasification of settlements already connected to gas.

Alexander Novak noted the high rates of social gasification in the republic, as well as the positive dynamics of the implementation of breakthrough investment projects included in the economic development model of Karachay-Cherkessia. "The republic has all the necessary resources and conditions for full-fledged development. Active measures are being taken to reduce dependence on imported components, agriculture, industry and tourism are developing," the Deputy Prime Minister added.

The Karachay-Cherkess Autonomous Oblast was established on January 12, 1922. In 1991, it was transformed into the Karachay-Cherkess Soviet Socialist Republic within the RSFSR. The region received its current name in December 1992.
